Winter Exterior Maintenance in Florida — Part 1

Winter in Florida is different — we don’t deal with snow or ice, but we DO deal with moisture changes, cooler temps, pollen shifts, and leaf drop. These changes can create the perfect conditions for
algae and fungus to settle in and spread.

Here are the first 2 key winter exterior maintenance tips Florida homeowners should prioritize:

1) Treat & Wash Algae and Fungus Before It Spreads

When temps cool down, exterior surfaces retain moisture longer. This is when algae and fungus start to grow on siding, pool decks, patios, and driveways. A softwash or pressure wash now stops the growth before spring arrives.

2) Clear Out Gutters — Especially After Fall Leaves

Between late October and January, leaves build up in gutters and downspouts. This creates clogs → which leads to water backup → which leads to roof damage and stains. Clear gutters at least once in winter to protect your home structure.

Watch for Part 2 — we’ll share 3 more winter maintenance tips to get ahead before spring.
